Aloha Hikers,

Join us as we go up the Waianai Coast to hike Kaena Point. This hike is about 5 miles round trip, but don't let that scare you as it's a shoreline hike, so relatively flat. It is fairly exposed, so sunscreen is a must,... as is plenty of water. This time of year is the most pleasant for this hike, and, as the Point is a bird sanctuary, we should be able to see the Laysan Albatross, their nests and eggs, or even their young chicks. There is also a good chance we'll spot Spinner dolphins, whales, and green sea turtles along the way... and we've seen the Hawaiian Monk Seal along the shore here, too.

We'll meet at Bloch Arena parking lot around 8:15AM, and we'll depart as a carpool @ 8:30AM. We should return around 1PM.

Wear appropriate hiking clothing and sturdy shoes, and bring along water, lunch/snack items, sun block and bug repellant. Consider wearing your slippers and bringing your hiking shoes in a plastic bag that you can then put them in afterwards should it be muddy. You may also want to bring along rain gear and a hiking stick.

Looking forward to this one... hope to see you one the trails in 2017!
